Hiking Excursion to the Magnificent Korouoma Canyon On this tour, you will join our guide to explore Korouoma, a breathtaking canyon valley located in Posio. Along the approximately five-kilometer trail, you will experience not only the impressive canyon scenery but also the area’s unique flora and fauna and three stunning waterfalls. At the bottom of the canyon flows the Korojoki River, whose flood meadows and lush riverside forests provide a habitat for many plant species that are rare elsewhere in the north. Rare insect and bird species can also be found in the area. Many of the local place names in Korouoma trace their origins to a permanent resident of the canyon: the otter. The excursion lasts approximately 5–6 hours, including travel, and includes a packed trail lunch. This hike requires a good level of basic fitness and, due to the length and difficulty of the terrain, is not suitable for small children.
